ÚJD SR hosted an IAEA Regional Workshop focused on aspects of long-term operation of nuclear power plants

On 11 – 14 March 2025, an expert workshop of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) was held in Bratislava as part of the regional project of the IAEA Technical Cooperation Programme, which was organised by the Nuclear Regulatory Authority of the Slovak Republic (ÚJD SR) in cooperation with Slovenské elektrárne, a.s. (SE, a.s.). During the workshop the issues of challenges in spare part availability, technological obsolescence and supply chain availability during long-term operation of nuclear power plants were discussed.

The workshop was attended by experts from regulatory authorities and license holders from Armenia, Hungary, Romania, Slovenia, Turkey and Slovakia. The programme also included a visit to the Mochovce nuclear power plant site. Both, the participants and the lecturers appreciated event as an excellent opportunity to exchange experiences, expertise and information on the latest trends related to the issue that is highly topical and whose relevance is growing not only in Slovakia, but also in a broader international context.
