The Inspection Plan & Evaluation

Inspection Plan of the Nuclear Regulatory Authority of the SR

The inspection plan of the UJD SR is a list of planned inspections of the UJD SR for one calendar year and is designed to cover all relevant areas of nuclear safety oversight evenly. The inspection plan is issued in the form of an order of the Chairperson of the UJD SR. It shall contain basic information on each planned inspection – the inspection number in the inspection plan, the name of the licence holder as defined in the Atomic Act, the name of the nuclear installation site or place of business of the licence holder, the title of the inspection, the scope of the inspection and the quarter of the relevant year, for which the inspection is planned.

Overview of inspections

The course of each inspection, as well as the findings themselves, are documented in detail. The way, in which the inspection is documented, is covered by the Authority’s internal rules that each inspector has to follow. Deficiencies identified during the inspection are recorded in a report, together with requirements and deadlines for their correction. The licence holder is then required to notify the Authority of the manner and date of rectification of the deficiency.

Evaluation of inspections

The inspection activities of the UJD SR are regularly evaluated in accordance with the internal Directive on Inspection Activities. As the Inspection Plan of the UJD SR is drawn up for a period of one year, an Analysis of the Inspection Activities of the UJD SR for the previous calendar year is always prepared at the beginning of the calendar year. The aim of the Analysis is to inform the management meeting of the UJD SR about the state of nuclear safety at nuclear installations in the Slovak Republic, about the shipments of radioactive materials and about recurring findings from inspections. The results of individual inspections form the basis for the Analysis of Inspection Activities.
