Notice on the continuation of administrative proceeding for fresh fuel node

Slovenské elektrárne, a. s., has amended on 22 June 2018 the application in the matter of issuing an authorization for management of nuclear materials in nuclear installation MO 3 & 4 within the scope of handling and storage of fresh nuclear fuel in the fresh fuel node and relevant applications (commissioning withing the scope of the fresh fuel node and early use of the fresh fuel node).

The mentioned administrative proceeding has been temporalily suspended by the decision of Nuclear Regulatory Authority of the Slovak Republic No. 334/2017 from 23 of August 2017. This decision also temporarily suspended the administrative proceedings in the matter of issuing an authorization for commissioning of Mochovce Unit 3 and 4 and relevant administrative proceedings. Application has been amended on 22 June 2018 only within the scope of administrative proceedings for the fresh fuel node (proceedings No. 1.1, 1.2 and 1.3 according to the decision of ÚJD SR No. 334/2017 on temporary suspension of administrative proceedings of MO 3 & 4).

The Authority has performed preliminary evaluation of the mentioned administrative proceedings amendment relevant to the fresh fuel node and states that Slovenské elektrárne, a. s., has with the amendment from 22 June 2018 fulfilled all the requirements of the ÚJD SR decision No. 334/2017 for continuation of the mentioned administrative proceedings (No. 1.1, 1.2 and 1.3).

The administrative proceedings No. 1.1, 1.2 and 1.3 continue from 22 June 2018.

Other administrative proceedings in the matter of application of Slovenské elektrárne, a. s., for issuing the authorization for nuclear installation MO 3 and 4:

• for management of radioactive waste and spent nuclear fuel for Unit 3 of MO 3 & 4 (administrative proceeding No. 2.1) and for Unit 4 of MO 3 & 4 (adminstrative proceeding No. 3.1)
• for commissioning of Unit 3 of MO 3 & 4 (administrative proceeding No. 2.2) and commissioning of Unit 4 of MO 3 & 4 (adminstrative proceeding No. 3.2)
• for early use of a building for Unit 3 of MO 3 & 4 (administrative proceeding No. 2.3) and Unit 4 of MO 3 & 4 (adminstrative proceeding No. 3.3)

remain suspended according to the ÚJD SR decision No. 334/2017.
