Meeting of regulatory authorities in an extended quadrilateral format in Slovenia
On 13-14 May 2025, a meeting of nuclear regulators from EU countries took place in Portorož, Slovenia, within the framework of the quadrilateral+ cooperation format, represented by the Czech Republic, Finland, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia.
During the two-day discussions, the partners informed each other about the current developments in regulatory activities and current issues related to nuclear safety and radiation protection. The discussions focused on current and upcoming challenges, in particular those related to the long-term operation of nuclear power plants, maintenance, competence development and licensing of new nuclear installations, including small modular reactors (SMRs), as well as international cooperation. The Slovak delegation was led by the Chairperson of ÚJD SR, Marta Žiaková.
The quadrilateral+ consultation format serves as a practical forum for supporting cooperation between Slovakia and partner regulatory authorities in the field of nuclear safety and radiation protection, as well as for the exchange of information and best practices in this area.
