Bilateral meeting between Slovakia and Austria held in Trnava on nuclear safety and radiation protection

On 25 and 26 June 2026, the 33rd bilateral meeting of delegations of the Slovak Republic and Austria on topics of mutual interest in the area of nuclear safety and radiation protection based on the intergovernmental agreement between the Slovak Republic and Austria is conducted in Trnava.

The Slovak delegation, led by the Chairperson of the Nuclear Regulatory Authority of the Slovak Republic (ÚJD SR), consisted of representatives of the ÚJD SR, the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, the Ministry of the Interior of the Slovak Republic, the Ministry of Economy of the Slovak Republic, the Ministry of the Environment, the Public Health Office of the Slovak Republic, and the companies of Slovenské elektrárne, a.s., Jadrová a vyraďovacia spoločnosť, a.s. and Jadrová energetická spoločnosť Slovenska, a.s. and VUJE, a.s.

The partners exchange information on current developments in the field of nuclear safety and radiation protection, activities of regulatory authorities and other relevant institutions, as well as the results of radiation monitoring in both countries. The topics discussed also include the issues of emergency preparedness, decommissioning of nuclear facilities and the plans for the construction of a new nuclear source in the Slovak Republic. The Slovak side also provides detailed information on the operation of nuclear facilities, a special section is dedicated to the preparation of Unit 4 of the Mochovce 34 nuclear power plant for commissioning.

The bilateral meeting is taking place, as usual, in a friendly atmosphere and care is taken to ensure that all questions are answered by the participants present.
