6th European Nuclear Safety Conference – save the date

The sixth European Nuclear Safety Conference should have taken place last year, but it has been postponed for one year due to the pandemic restrictions.

It is now scheduled to take place from 20 June to 21 June 2022 in Brussels under the auspices of the European Nuclear Safety Regulators Group (ENSREG) and in cooperation with the European Commission.

One of the key objectives of the conference will be to take stock of nuclear safety in Europe more than 10 years after the Fukushima accident (follow up on the stress tests, stress tests in non-EU countries, topical peer reviews etc.). Topics related to public participation in waste management and long-term operation of nuclear power plants, experiences and lessons learned from the Covid-19 pandemic, licensing of innovative designs, such as small modular reactors, and research in nuclear safety will further be addressed.

The usual venue of the conference will be: Charlemagne building of the European Commission in Brussels. The participants will have to respect Covid-19 related measures in force at that moment, but the organizers are confident that an in-person event will be possible. As usual, the conference will be also web streamed.

This is only a save-the-date message. The official announcement with a draft agenda, which is being prepared, will be communicated in due time. If you want to get more information, please check the ENSREG website (https://www.ensreg.eu/ensreg-conferences).
