3.5  INSPECTION AND ASSESSMENT ACTIVITIES AT NUCLEAR INSTALLATION:

SE-VYZ, TECHNOLOGY FOR TREATMENT AND CONDITIONING OF RADIOACTIVE WASTE

The main equipment of SE-VYZ is a conditioning center in Bohunice (supercompactor, cementation line and incinerator) the assembly of which was completed in 1998. Non-active tests on the supercompactor were completed in 1998, for other equipment they continue in 1999.

Two bituminization lines are also the part of this nuclear installation. The first one (PS 44) has been in operation since 1995 and the second one (PS 100) is in the phase of being commissioned. Technological connection of this equipment has not been completed in 1998.

Assessment activity

Assessment activity of UJD in 1998 was concentrated on assessment of results of non-active tests and on review of documentation submitted by the operator for assembly of individual parts of equipment (quality documentation) and for commissioning of the Conditioning center in Bohunice.

Inspection activity

Obr.
Inspection activity of UJD on nuclear installations for radioactive waste management was focused on radiation and fire protection of these facilities and meeting the quality of conditioned waste in non-active tests of new equipment. Unplanned inspection was focused on fire risk of radioactive waste conditioning by bituminization. In 1998 there were no operational events recorded at the nuclear facilities for radioactive waste management.
