6.1 List of Nuclear Installations and Technical and Economic Parameters


LIST OF NUCLEAR INSTALLATIONS

In terms of Article 2 of the Convention, the Joint Stock Company Slovenské elektrárne is the only operator of the following nuclear installations:

· Power Plant Bohunice A-1, 1 x HWGCR, KS 150 model

· Interim Spent Fuel Storage (IISFS)

· RAW Processing and Treatment Technologies

· Treated and Solid RAW Storage

TECHNICAL AND ECONOMIC PARAMETERS

This Section shows certain technical and economic parameters of the operated units of NPP Bohunice.

UNIT CAPABILITY FACTOR

Unit Capability Factor (UCF) expresses the ratio (in per cents) of actually generated electricity by a unit and the energy the unit would be able to generate within the given period of time accounting for restricting influences (output regulation by the Slovak Electricity Grid, Control Center SED etc.). The lower values of the factor for units 1 and 2 are due to extended general overhauls to implement safety upgrades (years 1991 through 1993, 1996, and 1997). The following table and diagram show unit capability factor values for the individual units (page 110).

LOAD FACTOR

This ratio accounts for actual supplies of electricity as compared to theoretically possible supplies of electricity into the power grid; it however does not account for external restrictive factors (regulation by SED). The lower levels of load factors for SE-EBO units were markedly influenced by the allocation of V-2 units into primary regulation of the power grid output as well as by extended general overhauls in the framework of Gradual Reconstruction of V-1 units. Diagram and table on next page illustrate the historical values of this ratio for the individual units.

ELECTRIC ENERGY GENERATION

NPP Bohunice units generated a total of 10,796,904 MWh of electricity in 1997, representing a drop of 5.6 % as compared to 1996 ( 11,261,233 MWh ) . The electricity generation level was reduced due to planned extended overhauls of Units 1and 2, and to SED constraints.

The following Figure provides an overview of electricity generation at Bohunice in previous years:
